About

The Independent Literacy Foundation promotes general and financial literacy in schools and communities across the United States, equipping the youth of today with the tools to succeed in the world of tomorrow.

Whether you’re an educator, a librarian, an author, a business owner, a community leader, or anyone else passionate about literacy, we want to partner with you to empower others to find their purpose in life.

Executive Director

Founded by an author, an audiobook narrator, and a former banker, the Independent Literacy Foundation (ILF) sprang out of a shared recognition of our society’s need for improved literacy and financial literacy. Unlike many other foundations, we bring our expertise directly to those you serve through engaging live appearances, workshops, and materials. We want literacy education to be fun, interesting, and most of all, effective. How can your organization benefit from partnering with us? Contact us today, and let’s do good work together.

BRINGING LITERACY TO YOUR COMMUNITY

Literacy is so much more than learning to read or knowing how to balance a checkbook. Fundamentally, literacy is an adventure. It’s a way of life—and a way to improve our lives. We provide valuable and specialized knowledge through experience-based learning, brought directly to your community through specialized workshops and inspiring events.

SCHOOL PROGRAMMING AND CURRICULUM

The ILF offers specialized in-person programs to educate your students in basic financial literacy, where they’ll learn essential life skills with regard to managing their personal finances. In addition, we curate age-appropriate (yet entertaining) books for schools to utilize as part of a literacy-forward curriculum. Each author partnering with us can make school visits to interact with and meet students who have read their books through our curriculums. Nothing encourages literacy like meeting the author!

LIBRARY PROGRAMMING AND VISITS

The ILF provides unique access to a variety of quality books by independently published authors who have developed loyal audiences nationwide. Want to kickstart local book clubs, purchase popular-yet-elusive books for your collection, or host more author visits? The ILF can facilitate all of the above by connecting you with indie authors eager to chat with your members and patrons-live and in person. Writing, publishing, and financial literacy workshops are available.

AUTHORS AND DONORS

Successful authors and business owners know the value of cultivating relationships with readers and supporters. The ILF promotes literacy through the shared cooperation of authors who write content that improves literacy and donors who financially support our efforts to educate and equip the next generation. The ILF is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. Contact us today to join our mission. We welcome your support and partnership!
